GS FAME ANTI-DRUG CAMPAIGN 2009
Wednesday, May 20, 2009

The Social Committee of GS FAME Hayam Wuruk Student Council held the annual Anti-Drug Campaign 2009 on Wednesday, 13 May, 2009. The purpose of the campaign was to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse to our students, and to ensure that they lead clean and healthy lives.

The event began with a duet by resident singers Maria Harliyono and Viggo Christianto, sang a very sweet rendition of the famous hit song, “Lucky”. Then, Mario Fabianus took the stage and wowed the audience with his ‘magical’ card tricks, after which was followed by a stunning, and applause-enticing magic trick involving a glass of water, a fan, and several strips of tissue. Vania, the champion of this year’s singing contest, was up next with a song number. A short and original drama presentation about how drugs can ruin a person’s life came next. The students showed the audience their acting chops, channeling their creativity through the thrill of role-playing.

Two seminars about drug abuse came next. The first was a short speech by a representative from Badan Narkotika Kotamadya, followed by Mr. Rudy from Kapolsek Metro Taman Sari. Mr. Rudy brought two former drug users with him, to give testimonies of what living a life controlled by drugs was like.

Once the seminar ended, Michael James Anwar came forward and entertained the audience with a guitar solo, and Kezia Yu with a piano solo. The show concluded with a captivating modern dance performance by GS FAME Student Council’s very own Modern Dance Committee.

Overall, the event turned out quite successfully. The Anti-Drug campaign challenged the Student Council members’ creative and organizational abilities, and they came through. It certainly was a very enjoyable event.
