GS FAME Study and Cultural Tour to China
Tuesday, June 09, 2009
The freshmen for School Year 2008-2009 at GS FAME Institute of Business will spend their Summer Semester at Guangxi Normal University in Guilin, China. The group of students together with the two lecturers will leave on July 27, 2009 and spend seven weeks studying Basic Mandarin and two other Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) subjects. They will also be engaged in sports activities such as Wushu, Taiji and Taiji with Fan.
This program aims to expose students to people of other cultures so that the business subjects that they are studying would have more meaning. Businesses are no longer just confined to the home country but are undertaken all over the world. This will also give GS FAME students a chance to build their network of foreign contacts so that when they finally enter the business world they can tap on the network that they have built as students.
It will not be all study and no fun. Fridays or Saturdays are scheduled for visits to the sights of the beautiful city of Guilin and the neighboring areas. The group will have a chance to have a city tour to the Elephant Trunk Hill, the Twin Pagodas, Ming Dynasty, shopping centers, Solitary Beauty Peak, and the night bazaar. Other trips include Yang Shuo for the Silverstone Cave, West Street and Liu Sanjie Impression. Other points of interest are Reed Flute Cave, Pearl Farm, Seven Stars Park, Merryland, Fubo Hill, and Folded Brocade Hill.
