SUMMER 2009 STUDENTS in CHINA

The freshmen for School Year 2008-2009 at GS FAME Institute of Business are presently studying at Guangxi Normal University, Guilin, China. The group of students with their two lecturers departed on July 27, 2009. The moment was a very special one, especially for students as they will broaden their horizon and learn a new way of life in one of the world’s fastest growing economy.

Every parent full of enthusiasm accompanied their child to the airport and had the chance for a chit-chat with the lecturers. Aside from teaching, lecturers serve as guardian and assist students with any problems they may encounter. Also, the university has assigned a program coordinator to take charge of GS FAME group. Members of the PR & Admissions Department were also in the airport to help students with their check-in and other requirements. Even the Director of the Institute came to ensure that everything is in place. After a few weeks, another coordinator from GS FAME is scheduled to depart to Guilin. Students will stay and study in the International Education Center of the university which is exclusively designed for overseas students with top-notch facilities.

Prior to the departure, students had team building and group dynamic activities at Hayam Wuruk Campus for 2 days. The activities aimed at familiarizing students with one another, assigning room mates, and above all, dividing students into groups, selecting a group leader who will be responsible for managing the petty cash of its members. Students were also required to bring Batik shirt/dress which will be worn during cultural performances or other activities as organized at the university.
Students now enter to the most important phase of their life where they learn how to take decision, be independent, responsible, and develop their personality since they will socialize with students from other countries. This study and cultural program is one way how GS FAME prepares future business leaders and entrepreneurs to be prepared for the rigors of their future professional life.
