My Impressions of Guilin and GXNU part 2
Wednesday, August 12, 2009

July 29th was the first day of I learned Mandarin from a Chinese lecturer. The lecturer was so kind to us so I think people in Guilin are very warm and kind. – Yulia

When we arrived in GXNU, there were some Indonesian students who warmly welcomed us. I was so happy, at least, there will be people who can help us know more about GXNU. Not only the students but the lecturers and their staff warmly welcomed us too. – Keren

Guilin is a simple city with people who would welcome you warmly and take care of you as their own family. I really felt like this the moment I arrived at Guangxi Normal University. They don't just take care of our needs but they also help us adapt to our new environment here. I also admire how the officers of GXNU always try to communicate with us even though it is a hard thing for either party. I think Guilin is a place worth visiting because there are many secrets you can discover, scenery you'll never forget, places that will give you inspiration and also a heaven for those who love shopping. – Nelson

I think this university is nice with all the warm people around us. It seems that I will enjoy it here. – Felix Pratama

The campus is so excellent, they provide us with a good dorm, service, etc. But I still can't adapt to the food in the canteen. It's so different from that in my country. The campus is so huge with many people, This makes us learn how to socialize with other people,...We feel free and comfortable. Other than that, I think that we might learn how to be responsible. – Cindy Jesslyn

Guilin has weird weather. Sometimes the weather is very hot, sometimes it rains. And the sun sets around 7:00-8:00 pm. – Rendy

I was amazed by the canteen as it was very big. We use a meal card to buy the food and drinks there...When I went out to eat outside the campus, I noticed that all the Chinese people were eating with chopsticks and they did not provide spoons and forks. It was difficult for me to eat with chopsticks. But after a few days I learnt how to use them. – Karan
