GS FAME Students Visit Sari Roti
Wednesday, January 20, 2010
The Student Council of Kelapa Gading campus organized a factory visit to PT. Nippon Indosari Corpindo (Sari Roti) on January 14, 2010. The one-hour journey to the site paid off dearly as students, equipped with special factory attire, got the opportunity to observe the production of the top brand of bread in Indonesia.
Students also received an insight into the company’s history, vision, mission, management and marketing strategy, distribution channel, and supply chain. Sari Roti is the largest and most technologically-advanced- bread-producing factory in Indonesia which was established in 1995. Their factories are 95 percent capital-oriented and 5 percent human-oriented. Sari Roti holds the principle “Halal, Hygienic, and Healthy”, in line with its mission which is to improve the quality of Indonesian food to become more nutritious and safe for consumption. If Sari Roti targets the modern market, its other brand, “Boti” penetrates only into the traditional market. The visit was wrapped up with questions enthusiastically raised by several students regarding the human resource management, future expansions, production process and many others patiently answered by Mr. Sumaryadi, the Manager for Production.
Overall, the study tour was a hands-on learning experience as learning is not limited to the four walls of the classroom.
