GS FAME’s Debate and Essay Writing Competitions

The English Club of Kelapa Gading City Campus held a debate on the topic “Is Sri Mulyani’s appointment to the World Bank good or bad for Indonesia?”. The competition was held on 1 June 2010 coincidentally marks Former Minister Sri Mulyani’s first day as the new Managing Director of the World Bank Group.

The best debating team was awarded to the group of Rowell, Jesslyn and Nadia (as shown in the picture on the left) and the first runner-up winners were Richard, Timothy and Priscilla Michelle.

In a related event, the Mandarin Club of Kelapa Gading City Campus held a Mandarin Writing Competition entitled: ” 我的大学” (wo de da xue- My University) on 24 May 2010. The participants included GS FAME students who are Mandarin enthusiasts. The judges for the competition were GS FAME Mandarin Lecturer Mr. Loo You En & Sherly, Head of Mandarin Club. After one hour of writing, finally the winners were announced: Hardy won first prize; Teguh, second prize and Melissa, third prize.
