GS FAME Students Visit Solitary Beauty Peak
And The Twin Pagodas
Thursday, August 05, 2010
GUILIN, CHINA. It might have been raining last Friday, July 30, but it has never dampened the enthusiasm of the participants of this year’s Sandwich Program of the GS FAME Institute of Business in visiting some scenic spots of this beautiful city.
The student-participants of the Study and Cultural Tour visited the Wang Cheng campus of the host, the Guangxi Normal University, and the Solitary Beauty Peak which is located right inside this campus. They enjoyed the beautiful sceneries of the campus and everyone climbed the 152-meter peak which provided them a nice view of the city. “This climb is worth a three-hour session of Taiji (the Physical Education class being taken in the program) as I am sweating like this. But because it gives me a fine view of Guilin, it’s all worth it,” a student commented.
Eventually, the group proceeded to view the 7-storey Moon Pagoda which is connected by an underground water tunnel to the 41-meter high Sun Pagoda. Unfortunately, the rainy weather did not provide the group a nice view of the illuminated Twin Pagodas.
The group then went to the Central Square where everyone enjoyed shopping for a lot of very inexpensive goods. The students might be tired and exhausted at the end of the day, but the experience of shopping has given them a good reason to smile because of the great items and bargains that they cannot find elsewhere.
