Monday, January 18, 2016

Mr. Yuri Romero, Mr. Clay Myers, and Ms. Peggy Putri together with GS FAME SC Officers

GS FAME conducted a seminar on Green Urban Generation by Mr. Yuri Romero, the Head of the Heritage Preservation Commission of the Komunitas Historia Indonesia. He said that the younger generation holds the key in changing the environment for the better. After his talk, Mr. Clay Myers, the Director of Paradigm, shared his experience of growing up in suburban Virginia where he had to produce from scratch what he wanted to eat and wear on this 20-acre field, from getting his own water from the well to fishing from the lake. He described to us how due to technology and urbanization, we have developed the 'instant' lifestyle and become dependent on processed goods. This contributes to adding up to chemical waste and food waste of the planet. Paul Vincent Leuterio, a GS FAME student, was asked to share what he is currently doing in helping the environment after serving as one of the Filipino delegates to the ASEAN Youth Expo 2015. Towards the end of the seminar, Mr. Myers and Ms. Peggy Putri, Director of Two Doves Event Organizer then facilitated the discussion.
