Library Week 2017: Have Fun in the GS FAME Library

GS FAME Institute of Business celebrated its annual Library Week last November 6 – 10, 2017. The fun-filled week started with the “Running Man” Competition where students participated in group and worked together to accomplish series of tasks and tried their best to accomplish each challenge in a faster way. Paul, Rohan and Sarvesh topped the contest and got the grand prize, followed by the team of Nicholas, Steven and William as the second prize winners and the group of Charice, Jerry and Richard got the third prize.

On the second day, the students participated in an Instagram Photography competition, students uploaded their photos hashtag #GSFAME and #LibraryWeekPhoto and tagging @gsfame_sc (Student Council). Charice got the first place, followed by Michelle Leonardi and Chirag as the second and third placers, respectively.

The eyesight of the participants are tested in a “Can You See Me?” competition where groups with three members each compete in answering the questions related to the videos and pictures shown on the projector slide. On this third day activity, the participating groups had fun in solving the problems and the team of Steven, Nicholas and William won the first prize for this event. The team of Charice, Jerry and Richard got the second prize and the third prize was earned by the group of Michelle Leonardi, Paul, and Rohan, by winning the tie-breaker against the team of Hernando, Iwang and Leovan.

A very informative seminar about Library Information Literacy was conducted on the fourth day, Thursday, 9 November 2017. Mr. M. Prabu Wibowo explained the importance of being literate and being aware of the problems with the current information overload in the internet. Mr. Prabu illustrated to the participants how to filter the information and how to maximize the use of current information technologies in getting the relevant information for making their final thesis, homework or school projects. The students and even lecturers asked questions regarding the topic and Mr. Prabu answered the questions and ended the seminar with some additional advice to the participants.

The last day of the Library Week was celebrated with the “Scavenger Hunt,” where the participants, in groups of threes, race their way in completing tasks as described by clues provided to them. The group of Hernando, Michelle Leonardi and Paul topped the contest followed by the group of Brenda, Cindy and Simon on the second place and the team of Charice, Jerry and Richard on the third place.

All the participants did have fun in the library and the event was made possible through the joint efforts of the GS FAME Library headed by Mr. Wahyu, the GS FAME English and Book Club and through the support of the GS FAME Student Council and Academic Department.
